Founded in 1932 as the National Institute of Agricultural Research, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences (JAAS) now is a comprehensive provincial agricultural research institution under the direct leadership of Jiangsu Provincial Government. The headquarters of JAAS is located at the southern foot of the picturesque Purple Mountain in Nanjing. JAAS consists of 24 research institutes, among which 13 are on the main campus of Nanjing and 11 are off-campus institutes. 1. Positions and Requirements
⑴ Leading Talents
1)Positions and research areas
I. Director of the National Research Center for Engineering Technology of Veterinary Bio-Products
II. Chief of Jiangsu provincial key laboratory for food quality and safety
I. Have integrity, good personal qualities, professional ethics and team spirit.
II. Possess good knowledge of the status quo for both domestic and overseas agricultural research, international vision and high scholarly attainments; be capable of proposing strategic, forward-looking and innovative research plans in related research areas; have made important academic achievements recognized by both domestic and overseas counterparts; lead the fast development of technology innovation in related research areas; have strong decision-making ability and organizational coordination skills.
III. Hold the doctoral degree and senior technical title. Overseas applicants should have the experience of teaching or doing research in world-renowned universities, research institutions or the R&D department of famous enterprises and acquire the technical title equivalent to professor.
IV. Fit into one of the following:
① Be included in “the National Recruitment Program for Innovative Talents” or have equivalent qualifications.
② Have received the title of Distinguished Professor from the Changjiang (Yangtze River) Scholar award issued by the Ministry of Education, have won the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, be included in the “National High-level Personnel of Special Support program” or the “Hundred Talent Program” by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, or have equivalent qualifications.
③ Have been recruited by the “Jiangsu Specially-Appointed Professors Program” or the “National Thousand (Young) Talents Program”, or have equivalent qualifications.
V. Be in good health and under the age of 50.
VI. Applicants for the leading talent position in the food processing area who fit related requirements can be hired as the Director of the Institute of Food Processing following necessary employment procedures.

3)Salary and Benefits
The “One Person One Policy” rule applies to the leading talents regarding their salary and benefits. For academicians or applicants with equivalent qualifications, salary and benefits are decided through negotiations between the two parties and not confined to the following.
I. Research fund: CNY 5-10 million during the term of employment
II. Office and laboratory space: provided according to the practical needs, and usually the laboratory space is about 200m2.Support research group building, and give priority to staffing and the recruitment of post-doc fellows and graduate students.
III. Housing: provide an apartment of about 120m2 and give a lump sum of family allowance (CNY 200,000)
IV. Salary: CNY 1,000,000 – 1,200,000 annually during the term of employment for candidates included in “the National Recruitment Program for Innovative Talents” or having equivalent qualifications.
CNY 500,000 – 700,000 annually during the term of employment for candidates having received the title of Distinguished Professor from the Changjiang (Yangtze River) Scholar award issued by the Ministry of Education, having won the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars or having equivalent qualifications.
CNY 350,000 – 500,000 annually during the term of employment for candidates having been recruited by the “Jiangsu Specially-Appointed Professors Program” or the “National Thousand (Young) Talents Program”, or having equivalent qualifications.
The annual salary does not include state, provincial or municipal living allowances.

Applicants should be under the age of 45 and in good health; hold the doctoral degree and senior technical title; have high scholarly attainments and strong enterprise and sense of responsibility, good personal qualities, professional ethics and team spirit; be capable of lead a research team to carry out important innovative research work; and fit into the following:

II. have won the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars or have equivalent qualifications.
Overseas applicants should have the experience of teaching or doing research in world-renowned universities, research institutions or the R&D department of famous enterprises and acquire the technical title equivalent to professor.
3) Salary and benefits
The “One Person One Policy” rule also applies to the academic leaders regarding their salary and benefits.
I. Research fund: CNY 2-4 million during the term of employment
II.Office and laboratory space: priority will be given to the use of office and laboratory space, research platform building, research group building, staffing and the recruitment of post-doc fellows and graduate students.
III.Housing: a lump sum of family allowance (CNY 600,000),free use of a 50-100m2 apartment for the first 3-5 years during the term of employment or monthly housing allowance of CNY 1,800-3,000.
IV. Salary: annual salary of CNY 200,000, paid monthly and social insurance included.
2. Recruitment procedures
(1) Application and recommendation
1) Applicants submit to the Human Resources Department of JAAS the High-End Talents Application Form.
2) Supporting documents submission (in the following sequence):
Copies of passport, certificate of the doctor’s degree, certificate of technical title or letter of employment, documents concerning work experience, awards and honors, grants, publications, patents and other supporting materials.
3) 3 Peer Recommendation Letters
The above-mentioned form and documents should be submitted via e-mail.
(2)Interview and Evaluation
Candidates should participate in an interview and introduce through PPT presentation his/her basic personal information, research work and achievements, future work plans, personal strengths and weaknesses, and so on.
JAAS will conduct background check of the candidates.
Candidates will be employed through votes of the recruitment committee and sign the Employment Contract for an 8-year term.
3. Term of Validity
The first 2 positions for Leading Talents are valid until they are filled, while the other positions are perennially valid.
